Clinical Educator Track

Kelsey will be working with the University of Global Health Equity in Rwanda and her primary project will be focused on integrating One Health and Planetary Health teaching into the UGHE medical curriculum. She will also develop One Health-related teaching materials for medical education in collaboration with UW and its partners. In addition, she will be attending on the IM and Pediatric hospital services at Butaro District Hospital, as well as to help with the development of the Pediatrics clinical curriculum.


Chandler Villaverde

Chandler Villaverde, MD

Research Track

Chandler is interested in health systems strengthening programs to improve cancer care in low resource settings. During his research year, he will be working with faculty at the Butaro Cancer Center of Excellence in Rwanda, studying the epidemiology of cancer as well as treatment outcomes with a particular focus on Wilm’s tumor. He will also spend time working on the oncology wards in Butaro. He hopes to apply lessons learned from coordinating complex care for rural populations in Alaska while studying the implementation of treatment protocols in Rwanda.
