Dr. Benzekri attended UCLA medical school, and completed internal medicine residency and infectious diseases fellowship at the University of Washington. After fellowship she joined the faculty of the UW Division of Infectious Diseases. She has worked with the World Health Organization, the Centers for Disease Control, PATH, and non-governmental organizations on numerous projects throughout sub-Saharan Africa. She is currently based in Senegal, West Africa where she is the PI of studies on HIV, tuberculosis, food insecurity and malnutrition.
