Sexually Transmitted Infections Cooperative Research Center

The Sexually Transmitted Infections Cooperative Research Center aims to investigate syphilis pathogens and immunity to develop an effective syphilis vaccine.

AIDS Clinical Trials Unit

The UW AIDS Clinical Trials Unit is part of a network of sites around the country that receives funding from the National Institutes of Health to conduct research studies on HIV-related treatments in adults.

Extension of Community Healthcare Outcomes

NW AETC ECHO was launched in February 2012 to expand the HIV care capacity of healthcare professionals and healthcare delivery systems in remote, underserved areas of Washington, Alaska, Montana, Idaho, and Oregon.

UW Public Health Capacity Building Center

UW PHCBC is a consortium of providers dedicated to implementing innovative strategies to build local and state health departments’ capacities to engage in high-impact prevention in the areas of HIV testing, prevention with HIV-positive persons, and organizational development and management.

HIV Vaccine Trial Network

The Seattle Vaccine Trials Unit enrolls local volunteers for global health-related studies such as HIV, malaria and rhinovirus. These studies are conducted by researchers at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center and the University of Washington.

Tuberculosis Research and Training Center

The Tuberculosis Research and Training Center (TRTC) integrates efforts to address important scientific questions about tuberculosis (TB). Established in 2017 under the Division of Allergy and Infectious Disease, we provide support for TB training and research efforts in the Seattle area.

Global Center for Integrated Health of Women, Adolescents and Children

Global WACh provides expertise from the UW Departments of Global Health, Pediatrics, and Obstetrics and Gynecology to promote scientific discoveries, nurture new leaders and foster collaborations to advance the health of women, adolescents and children. Research priorities relevant to infectious diseases fellows include HIV and related coinfections (TB, CMV, EBV) through the lifecycle, and gut health and child survival.
